| PVT. THOMAS W. CLEARY
Serial No. 2,983,629
317 E. Arch St., Marquette, Mich.
Private Cleary came from Marquette and was a machinist by trade. In the outfit he was made a driver and served throughout in that capacity. At Coetquidan he was made driver of caissons and assigned to the position of lead man.
In Barkema’s funeral procession Cleary drove the caisson on which rested the body of our departed comrade.
When coming through the shell-riddled town of Thiaeourt, bringing his horses forward, he narrowly escaped shell-fire.
At Pont-a-Mousson he was a member of Corporal Whalen’s section.
He was an unassuming and pleasant comrade. |
